School-based apprenticeships and traineeships (SBATs) provide an opportunity for you to work with an employer and train in a qualification while you are still at school. You will work and train on the job with your employer and may also train at a RTO for one or two days a week, spending the other days at school completing your Western Australian Certificate of Education (WACE). About the Role During your traineeship you will be working as an IT Help Desk Technician responsible for providing technical support and assistance to customers who are seeking technical assistance over the phone or email. The responsibilities will include: Serving as the first point of contact for customers seeking level 1 technical assistance over the phone or email. Performing remote troubleshooting through diagnostic techniques and relevant questions of level 1 in nature. Determining the best solution based on the issue and details provided by customers. Throughout your training, other responsibilities may include: Managing and prioritizing help desk tickets. Assisting customers efficiently and effectively. Running diagnostics and troubleshooting simple problems. Setting up computer hardware, software, and networks. Following up with customers. Running standard or specialized IT reports. Writing and editing training manuals or help desk content. Troubleshooting client login issues to determine and resolve reported problems. Troubleshooting telephone and VOIP issues to resolve them. Contacting customer support and maintaining cloud system where applicable. Tracking warranties and inventory. Responding to telephone calls, e-mail, and personal requests for technical support related to computer systems, software, and hardware. The Ideal Candidate Key Skills: Technical skills and basic computer skills, with an understanding of Microsoft Office Suite. Analytical skills and active listening skills to understand user issues that will help in troubleshooting. Ability to multi-task and prioritize duties. Ability to provide quick resolution and excellent customer service. Attributes: Empathetic with excellent customer service skills Punctual and great time management Good communication skills and ability to work in a team environment.
