Programmed are seeking motivated applicants that have an interest in working outdoors carrying out horticultural activities including, parks and garden maintenance, noxious weed control and tree work with a strong desire to work in the horticulture - parks and gardens industry and have the drive to commit to a 12-month Traineeship. Working as a Horticulture Trainee at Opal Holdings in Calliope/Gladstone region may see you completing the following tasks:mowing, snipping, brush cuttingtrimming and hedgingmulching and weedingturf preparationirrigation worksprayingplanting and tree maintenanceplant identification (native and exotic species)work as a team memberattend safety Toolbox Talks, contribute to the team's safety To be considered you must have the following:competent numeracy and literacy skillspositive attitudecurrent drivers' licence and reliable transportcompleted year 10 education at a minimumGeneral Construction Induction Card (White Card) prior to commencementdemonstrated enthusiasm for horticulture industrydemonstrated capacity to work as a team memberdemonstrated capacity to work safely with a zero-harm attitude Work Location:The position can be directed to work anywhere within the Opal Holdings Gladstone region however the trainees will be rotated between 3 main depots located in the Gladstone region. TAFE Requirements:You will also be required to attend TAFE one day per fortnight in Gladstone at CQ University Gladstone.Prior to any offer of employment, the successful applicant will be required to attend a pre-employment medical which will include passing a drug and alcohol screen.Additional training may be required prior to and during the traineeship.
