Bechtel’s internship program was created to cultivate real-life industry interest based on hands-on experience. Many new university graduate hires began their careers at Bechtel as a student intern. Pluto Train 2 is the expansion of a second LNG train at the existing Pluto LNG onshore facility near Karratha in Western Australia run by Woodside Energy. What You’ll Be Doing: Our internships run as a 12-week program over the university summer holidays commencing on 28 November 2023. This is a FIFO opportunity from Perth, Western Australia to Karratha, Western Australia on a 3weeks on / 1week off roster for the duration of the program. Interns will be accommodated in the Red Dog Construction Village. During this time, you’ll see first-hand how our business works and take on tasks related directly to the construction of the project and internal initiatives, all which will give you valuable industry experience – all while having a real impact on our organization. What You’re Good At: To be considered, you must be: your second or third year of your degree at an accredited university in either Science, Bachelor of Science (Occupational Therapy) and Bachelor of Science (Health, Safety and Environment), or other related field an Australian citizen or have the right to permanently work and remain in Australia without sponsorship able to pass any pre-employment requirements such as a drug screen and background check. Additional Information This position has responsibilities that include exposure to changing environmental, construction, and operational conditions, which may include: extensive walking in and around an active construction and/or operations site, climbing ladders, working at heights from work platforms including scaffolding, and mobile elevating work platforms (MEWPs), use of personal fall arrest equipment, walking and working on uneven surfaces, working in constricted and/or confined spaces, variable work shifts (e.g., day, night, weekends, 1st, 2nd, 3rd shift, etc.), and work in inclement weather. Some lifting may be required. Candidate must be able to use standard issued Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) required for each assigned task (i.e. respirator, harness, life vest, hearing protection, etc.). The Pluto Train 2 Project is a Major Hazard Facility meaning this is a non-smoking site and no tobacco products – i.e. cigarettes, vapes, lighters, tobacco - are permitted to be brought to the site.
