ABOUT THE ROLE The Trainee Laboratory Technician will contribute to the delivery of daily laboratory operations within the NATA Accredited (ISO IEC17025), Woodside BMF laboratory, located on the Burrup peninsular in Western Australia. The key deliverable of a trainee is to join a team of experienced laboratory analysts and build the skills and competency necessary to deliver on the requirements of operating and maintaining laboratory equipment and performing associated analysis for an analytical laboratory. The position is largely laboratory based; however, it will involve opportunities to carry out field sampling of hydrocarbon, water and other environmental products to deliver on the variety of laboratory testing required to support operations across Karratha Gas Plant, Pluto Gas Plant, King Bay Supply Facility, and offshore assets. During your traineeship you'll have the opportunity to work on a wide range of tasks across the Burrup Assets, including but not limited to: Preparation of sampling equipment, solutions and standards, inclusive of performing required equipment calibrations e.g. balances, pipettes and glassware. Perform required field sampling to support production and environmental monitoring. Performing laboratory testing and interpretation of associated results. Entering data and logging samples into SampleManager, the laboratory information management system (LIMS). Maintaining required laboratory records and adhering to a Quality Management System Building an understanding of the requirements of a NATA Accredited (ISO IEC17025) laboratory Manage all parts of the logistics process to support delivery of samples and equipment to/from offsite locations. Maintain and control stocks of laboratory chemicals and consumables Training during the Laboratory Technician traineeship, includes: Certificate III Laboratory Techniques / Certificate IV Laboratory Techniques (MSL40116) Training in a variety of safety and laboratory related modules Certificates including but not limited to First Aid, Fire Fighting, Personal Gas Monitor (PGM), Working at Heights, Forklift operations, Gyrolok, NATA Understanding ISO IEC17025 Rotations through the various analytical sections/batches of the laboratory, with the expectation of in-house training and competency records to be completed in majority of sections/batches by the end of traineeship. WHAT WE EXPECT FROM YOU Possess a genuine interest and motivation in pursuing a career in Laboratory Operations. Successfully completed Secondary Education including Year 12 Chemistry, Mathematics and English, or equivalent. Demonstrate a willingness to learn. Self-motivated, results-driven, curious, willing to learn and take on new challenges. A strong work ethic with demonstrated reliability. You demonstrate problem-solving aptitude. You want to work in an exciting team environment. As you progress, you demonstrate the capability to innovate, respectfully challenge and lead by example. Have strong computer skills. Have a current 'C' class drivers' licence. Have the ability to obtain a Maritime Security Identification Card (MSIC). Have the ability to pass a pre-employment medical and attend regular drug and alcohol screens. A good level of physical fitness and commitment to maintaining their health and wellbeing.
