The Role: Location: Seppeltsfield, Barossa Valley SA Duration: 36-month Traineeship As a Trainee Gardener , you will assist an experienced Estate Gardener with various gardening tasks, including planting, watering (and maintaining irrigation systems), pruning, weeding, and maintaining garden beds and lawns. Under the guidance of experienced mentors, your responsibilities will include: Maintain pristine lawns and gardens Mowing, edging, pruning, trimming and hedging tasks General grounds maintenance including blower vac, mulching and raking Prepare and use fertilizers, pesticides, and herbicides Install and maintain irrigation systems across the gardens Operate and maintain garden tools and machinery About You: To be successful in this Traineeship, you will need: Passion and genuine interest in horticulture Great customer communication skills Reliable with good timekeeping Meet the physical requirements of the job, working outdoors all year round Competent written and verbal communication skills Problem solving and decision-making skills Have a can-do attitude and willing to learn Eligibility Criteria: Driver’s licence and access to a reliable vehicle ChemCert Training (or willing to obtain) Satisfactorily pass a pre-employment assessment including a drug and alcohol test Previous experience in gardening or similar trades (advantageous) About Maxima: Maxima is a leading Group Training Organisation – we manage recruitment, placement and ongoing support of trainees and apprentices on behalf of our host employers.
