The Opportunity – Novaskill has partnered with Northern Beaches Council to offer a Parks and Gardens Apprenticeship, including on-the-job training with ongoing mentoring and support to help you achieve your career goals and unleash your true potential. You’ll complete a nationally recognised Certificate III in Parks and Gardens whilst working in the Parks & Recreation Team through a combination of formal training with a Registered Training Organisation and practical on-the-job experience at the Northern Beaches Council and the ability to develop relationships in the Parks and Recreation Team. Whilst working near Sydney’s beautiful Northern Beaches, you’ll be working within a supportive team that values you as an individual and supports you while you earn & learn The Role – The role of the Gardens Apprentice is to participate in planned and reactive horticultural maintenance programs across parks and gardens in the Northern Beaches. The team is to ensure programs and services meet specified standards and requirements on an ongoing basis and are delivered in a timely and effective manner. Activities include, but are not limited to planting, weeding, mulching, pesticide applications and other general parks and garden maintenance tasks. Learnings & Outcomes – Ensure effective and timely delivery of agreed programs. Contribute to the daily operations of the Parks Operations Team within the Parks and Recreation service to ensure a flexible and responsive service. Utilise computer-based system to record and document maintenance work completed. Willingness and ability to learn about the maintenance of a variety of parks assets via on-the-job training. Reporting to Gardens Supervisor as required on progress of maintenance programs. Maintain a clean and safe work environment while complying with safety policies and procedures. Comply with statutory and regulatory requirements and standards.
