About the role We are searching for a trainee who is currently completing their Certificate IV in Human Resources and is excited to learn about all aspects of Human Resources. This will have a unique opportunity to put theory into practice and be incredibly supported during the commencement of your career. Reporting to the People & Culture Manager, the trainee / assistant will help with activities such as recruitment, scheduling interviews, onboarding, HR operations and other general administrative tasks. Role of the NSW Crime Commission The NSW Crime Commission’s purpose is to disrupt, reduce and prevent the incidence of organised and other serious crime in New South Wales. The Commission is structured into several divisions, support teams and specialist units. Corporate and Enterprise Services is responsible for the delivery of a sustainable agency and includes supporting the core business of the Commission through the Office of the Commissioner, Technology Services, Finance and Facility Services, People and Culture, Governance and Audit. The CES division provides all security, facilities, finance, budget, procurement, HR, personnel security, governance, audit, ICT, IMT, strategy, planning, communications and ministerial liaison services to the Commission and other stakeholders. Primary Purpose of the Role · Provide administrative support to our People & Culture Department · Manage administration tasks during recruitment and onboarding · Act as a liaison between the People & Culture Department and applicants · Create policies and procedures that enhance our People & Culture environment Create policies and procedures that enhance our People & Culture environment Key Accountabilities · Assist with recruiting tasks such as reviewing resumes, scheduling interviews, hiring, and following up with applicants · Schedule and coordinate onboarding assignments · Compile and process employee documentation and records, and keep the employee database up to date · Assist the People & Culture Manager with formulating policies, procedures, and changes, as well as communicating all updates to employees · Maintain the departmental email account, responding to employee questions in a timely and professional manner · All other general administrative tasks guided by the People & Culture Manager Skills and qualifications · Certificate III or IV in Human Resources (or current undertaking) · Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal · Strong attention to detail · Proficiency in administrative duties such as communications, data entry, and record keeping · Enthusiasm for working within a team environment · Tact and professionalism when it comes to handling confidential information and addressing employee concerns · Proficiency with technology, and the ability to pick up new software easily Desired qualifications · Familiarity with systems and databases · Experience in an administrative role · Understanding of general NSW Public Sector · Desire to grow within the organisation All roles are underpinned by the Commission’s values: · Integrity · Trust · Accountability · Service · Unity Security Vetting It is a condition of employment at the Commission that a member of staff obtain and maintain: a) security clearance issued by the Commissioner, and b) security clearance issued by the Australian Government Security Vetting Agency that the Commissioner determines in necessary for the position. This requires providing details of financial interests and other relevant personal and professional information about themselves and their associates. Appointments are subject to attaining appropriate security clearances.
