These traineeships are aimed at highly motivated individuals who have a strong desire to work in Healthcare, and Oral Health Services provides excellent supervision and support, taking pride in producing excellent Dental Assistants. The successful applicants will gain experience in all aspects of Dental Assisting including infection control, dental chair-siding, instruments, sterilisation of equipment and administration. The training will also cover oral pathology, dental equipment, physiology and oral surgery. At the end of the traineeship, you will have obtained a National qualification in Dental Assisting, which can be utilised in any Dental Practice around Australia. What can you gain from completing a traineeship through Work & Training? You would be employed by Work & Training and hosted to Oral Health Services for the duration of your traineeship. You would receive professional guidance from your immediate supervisors, as well as mentoring and support from a Work & Training Apprentice & Employment Consultant. The theory side of your qualification would be conducted one-on-one in the workplace, with expert tuition, by registered trainers from TasTAFE. On completion of your traineeship you will receive a nationally recognised Certificate III in Dental Assisting – HLT35021. What would this involve? Work Monday to Friday in the Dental Practice. Train to assist dentists and hygienists’ chair-side. Gain an understanding of the instruments & dental equipment used. Train in sterilisation techniques for equipment. Learn all about infection control. Oral pathology and physiology is covered. There will be the opportunity to assist with oral surgery. Obtain a good understanding of the administrative aspect of Dental Assisting. Trainers come to the workplace to teach and assess. Wage: National Training Wage applies. Full entitlements including four weeks of accumulated annual leave. Scrub tops provided. Essential: Valid Drivers licence and reliable car.
