Traineeship 2025 - Online Retail — Rock Flat, Cooma-Monaro Area
Expired

Hi, we’re so thrilled you found us We’re birdsnest, an online retail store, though we like to think of ourselves as Wardrobe Wingbirds Our mission is to help customers find the perfect outfit that makes them feel amazing - inside and out. To make this happen we have over 140 talented people working across 14 different teams from Software to Fashion buying & Customer Service to Warehouse. This is all based in our little nest in the country town of Cooma in the Snowy Mountains of NSW. We’re on the search for trainees to join our team in 2025 for a 12 month experience that will challenge, surprise and inspire There are four parts to the traineeship framework: Part 1: On the job learning Based on your interests we will place you in one of the following teams including Design, Styling, Marketing, Buying, Merchandising or Warehouse (more details below). This is where you will spend most of your time, supported along the way by your mentor. Design: In this team you would learn how to measure garments, complete specification sheets and progress reports, colour theory, outfit creation, barcodes, assist on photoshoots and much more This role would particularly suit someone interested in pursuing a career in fashion design. Buying: You would have the opportunity to assist the buyers in identifying stock for our ranges, create range plans for the buyers when they have selected the stock and entering ranges into our systems. You would also help with samples coming from suppliers for photoshoot. This role is largely administrative and requires a great attention to detail. Styling: You would receive training in our brands and learn how each style appears on our site tagged for body shape, personality and occasion. You'd learn how to describe each style in a blurb and how to make outfits that will appear on the site. You would also become an assistant in photo shoots, learning the basics of styling a model in both studio and location settings. If you love to write, this role could be perfect and it also suits those who are interested in photography and video. Marketing: You would have the opportunity to help out with everything from digital marketing campaigns, social media communications including creating content and monitoring our social channels, to media call-outs, event organising, assisting with sponsorship initiatives, and responding to product reviews. Depending on your interests and strengths there could also be opportunities to delve into graphic design, copywriting and videography. Warehouse: In this team you would develop a keen understanding of our Warehouse operations. In addition to looking after our 'just in time' stock-taking system you would assist with receiving, counting, stickering, checking, moving, and clearing stock. This role particularly suits someone who enjoys a more physical role with more time up than at a desk. Part 2: TAFE Half a day each week is dedicated to your TAFE learning at the Cooma Campus which you will complete alongside the other Nest trainees for 2025. By the end of the year you will have completed your Certificate III in Business. This nationally accredited qualification gives you a foundation of essential workplace skills that you can apply in any industry, whatever your next step is. Part 3: Dispatch Kicking off the week with your fellow trainees you will spend each Monday in our Dispatch team, picking and packing online orders. This is where you will be personalising the customers' experience through hand written notes, and making sure that everything in the order is just right. Part 4: The Fun Stuff Being a Nester also includes weekly yoga and mindfulness sessions, discounts on the entire birdsnest range, as well as regular events and activities. Everything from inspiring speakers, team lunches, birthday bake offs, movie nights and tree planting Wondering if you might be our next Trainee Bird? Are you completing yr 12 in 2024?
