Environmental Sustainability is an area of high strategic importance at the City of Burnside. The Council’s Environmental Sustainability Strategy is focused on healthy habitats, resource conservation and corporate action. Working in the Environmental Sustainability team will give you a chance to contribute to constructive environmental action. The Role: Maxima, and the City of Burnside, are looking for a motivated individual to undertake an Environmental Sustainability Traineeship at the City of Burnside. The position has a focus on waste management, including community engagement, education, administrative task and project support to the Environment and Infrastructure Department. The trainee will also have the opportunity to support a range of environmental sustainability initiatives in line with Council’s Environmental Sustainability Strategy. Throughout this 18-month, fulltime opportunity you will gain hands-on experience in Local Government and Environmental Sustainability, paid training and continuous mentoring towards gaining a nationally recognised Certificate III in Business. This certificate will give you a grounding in the administrative processes that are necessary in any organisation. Duties Include: Assist with key waste management and environmental sustainability projects and initiativesAssist with waste management and environment sustainability education programs for community, business, schools, staff and other stakeholders to ensure a high level of knowledge, understanding and engagementContribute to Council’s operations including liaison with providers of waste collection and processing servicesRaise and receive purchase orders, receipt invoices, and record data from invoicesRespond to community requestsUndertake research and keep up to date on relevant industry trends, legislation, practices or technology within waste management About You: Passionate about environmental sustainability and waste managementExcellent communication skills, both verbal and writtenStrong work ethic; punctual and reliableGreat time management and organisation skillsAbility to multitask to meet deadlinesThrives working with team environments and independently Role Requirements: Current drivers licence and reliable vehicleNational Police Check (or willing to obtain)Previous customer service experience (desirable)Strong computer knowledge including Microsoft Office How to Apply: Click Apply and complete the online application form, attaching a copy of your resume and cover letter outlining your suitability for the available role.
