Position Title: Intern – Human Resources Division We have a rare opportunity for an intern to join our Human Resources Division team to gain experience in a supportive and collaborative environment. We are seeking an additional team member who is interested in kickstarting their career whilst completing their university studies. This internship will run for 6-8 weeks and is a unique and very exciting opportunity where you will be responsible for conducting research on Mitsui and the former Mitsui’s business activities in Australia, with the aim of providing a more holistic insight into the history of the entity. In particular, the role will involve researching facts, analysing data and documents, and providing insight into the history of business between Australia and Japan relating to trading or investments in Australia, and other business activities of the former Mitsui from the time of its establishment to the 1940s. Job Description The Role Responsibilities include but not limited to: Conduct thorough web and archive based research on the background of Mitsui’s historical business activities, particularly from the former Mitsui’s inception to the 1940s. Participate in research discussions, brainstorming sessions, and team meetings to contribute insights and ideas. Organise and analyse historical data, documents, and newspapers that are relevant to the research topic. Liaise with internal and external stakeholders regarding the research project. Provide ad hoc assistance or support to any ongoing division projects as necessary. Assist other team members with daily procedures or other business related or administration tasks as required. Desired Skills and Experience The Candidate You will have: Excellent communication skills, organisational skills, and the ability to prioritise in a dynamic work environment. Enthusiastic, a natural collaborator, and keen to continuously improve. IT adept with proficiency in MS Office – particularly Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint. Research and analysis skills with an ability to consolidate information from a variety of sources. A tertiary qualification in human resources, business, international studies relating to Australia and Japan, global business, or history, or another related discipline. Ability to adhere to ethical guidelines and standards of academic integrity in all research activities. A good understanding of Japanese work culture is an advantage.
