MongoDB Product Design Intern, MongoDB Charts - Summer 2019 — Sydney

Are you passionate about making technology accessible to more people? Do you like making complicated concepts simple? MongoDB is looking for a product design intern who is eager to learn and will work collaboratively with other designers, product managers, and engineers on impactful, challenging problems. You will be responsible for determining user needs and creating designs that will blend those needs with business objectives, while continuously advocating for the user throughout the development process. You will have a mentor who will help guide you through your internship and help you connect and learn from other design team members in San Francisco and New York.

What you will do

  • Help define user needs and create designs that lead to great product experiences for MongoDB customers
  • Develop a deep understanding of users through ongoing research and analysis of user behavior patterns, and by gathering feedback from internal stakeholders to make informed iterations on designs
  • Visually communicate designs by sketching, whiteboarding, wireframing, storyboarding or other techniques
  • Collaborate with other Product Designers, Product Managers, and MongoDB Engineering to research, design and develop user interfaces for MongoDB products and services
  • Partner with software engineering interns to make products more user-friendly

The right candidate for this role will

  • Be within 12 months of receiving a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Human Computer Interaction, Interaction Design, Cognitive Psychology, Digital Media Design, Web Design, Visual Communication and/or related fields
  • Have an interest in prototyping, designing, testing, implementing, and evaluating user experience for web-based applications
  • Be familiar with usability heuristics and best practices in UX design
  • Have strong prototyping skills and be able to create wireframes and process flow diagrams
  • Be able to plan and administer usability tests
  • Have a portfolio of work or projects that includes examples of design and/or research projects that highlight your process and your role on the project MongoDB is an equal opportunities employer
